Reas Captures Crocker

The Bridges Golf Club in beautiful San Ramon was the site of the 2009 WW Crocker Championship. Steve Reas shot a beautiful round of 78 to capture the championship.  Reas edged out Jon Vinh for the victory.

Playing the most difficult course on tour this year Reas’ net 68 was two strokes better than Vinh’s net 70. Reas played a near perfect round to gain his first Crocker trophy. He finished the back nine in even par.

Other winners included Mike Tryforos taking Flight B with a net 71 (92). He beat out Rick Merz by a shot. Merz had a 72 (98).  John Coleman finished third with an 81 (105).

Coleman was also a winner on one of the closest to the pin holes (7). Andy Tryforos was closest on hole 15. Both players took home $20.00 for their efforts.

Vinh beat out Andy Tryforos and Bryan Opholt to capture Flight C. Reas and Vinh tied for fewest puts with 29 each.

In July at the Santa Clara event Ryan Nicholson won Flight A with a 66 (74). He beat out Marlon Madayag and Steve Reas

Flight B honors went to Mike Tryforos who had a 69 (86). He topped He topped Miles Wigglesworth and Rick Merz.

Jon Vinh took Fight C over Andy Tryforos and Bryan Opholt. Vinh had a 74 (98). Tryforos shot a 75 (102) and Opholt had 79 (109).

The closest to  the pin winners were John Coleman and Rick Merz. Chris Tryforos and Rick Merz tied for fewest puts with 31.

September 12 is the date for the annual Tryforos Memorial to be held at Monarch Bay in San Leandro. The fee is $75.00 and the entry deadline is August 31st.
